This is my first BTBUY (Behind The BUY) story!
I was on work experience last year in June. My workplace was in the city so I would make the gruelling commute routine of waking up at 5:30 am and getting on a train by 7 am. UGH. /s
On the way back, I would always stop off at Melbourne Central and it quickly became my favourite station due to the variety of shopping outlets and the ‘vibe’, you know. It’s great.
There is a Mecca Maxima in Melbourne Central (or very close to) and me + my broke ass walked in there after stopping on my commute home, fully knowing that the $20 I had in my pocket wasn’t even enough to buy me a Beautyblender.
Then, I set my eyes on a display of Too Faced’s Sweet Peach palette, and I was in LOVE. This was about the time I started to try and teach myself Japanese and I was truly in love with the word for peach in Japanese, もも (momo). It’s just so cute!
At this point, I had some other peach makeup products like the Nivea Fruity Shine in Peach (which is my favourite lipbalm) and the Sephora Oil Infusion in shade 03. Peach Tea. I adore peaches so much and WAS HEARTBROKEN TO FIND OUT THAT THE PALETTE I’D JUST DISCOVERED WAS NO LONGER BEING SOLD.
I did some research, many loved and raved about the palette and decided I’d get my hands on it someday, whether that meant buying a pan-hit second hand palette of some random from the UK or asking Customer Service very nicely.
I was in Indonesia on a holiday when the Too Faced fam dropped the news in December that the Sweet Peach palette was coming back, and it was also coming in a whole range and was a permanent collection.
To say I was excited was an understatement. I got my mother to PROMISE to get me this palette as my Christmas present when we got back to Australia and very nicely asked my boyfriend, Adrien, to look into getting me the highlighting palette as I’ve never had a highlighter (why get one when you can just use an eyeshadow? lmao).
It turned out that Sweet Peach wasn’t officially launching in Australia until the 31st of January so I patiently waited on it.
The 31st of Jan is also the last day of my summer holidays and I had gotten new glasses about a week prior (Specsavers come thru) but hadn’t gotten the text that tells me they’d come in. I really wanted to get my glasses before school started (#NYNM) so I went to Mecca Southland and bought it!!! Much excite!!!! My glasses also HAD come in that day!
It was $70 (ouch, US [$49.00] to AUD conversion always hurts) but it’s so gorgeous and smells so lovely.
I will post a review once I use it more and get to know it better!
